Have you ever wondered how a scientific journal works? What is the DOI? How the impact factor is calculated? How do the databases work and allow us to find the articles of our interest? What does the term “peer review” mean? Knowing the gears of scientific publications is essential for all who wish to publish their research, as well as for readers who trust the quality of published articles. We have prepared this new section named Editorial Notes for Authors with the main purpose to provide strategic information on the different topics related to the editorial work of Botanical Sciences and the process of publishing scientific articles in general. The topics addressed are aspects of the publications and that sometimes we do not know precisely their meaning or operation. The purpose of Botanical Sciences is to make available to the botanical community tools that favor their work as well as for reviewers and section editors.
